What People Have to Say About CAPSOL
"Capsol has been a significant
part of our school improvement program, particularly at the middle
school level. It has been valuable in identifying student strengths,
analyzing data for skill building, and has served as the centerpiece
of our professional development program."
Richard Wair
Asst. Supt. For Curr.
"I have used
the Capsol Learning Style inventory with my high school students
with very positive results! Naturally, both teacher and student
benefit greatly by understanding individual learning strengths.
The information resulting from the Capsol helps both teacher and
student approach the student's learning through strengths and
addresses/improves weakness(es). Bottom line: We have learned
after far too many years that learning happens individually, not
collectively."
Jenell Hebert,
High School Teacher
"I have used the
CAPSOL learning style inventory for over 15 years with about 2,000
graduate students(mostly teachers). Many of them introduced CAPSOL
to their school systems. What I particularly like about this instrument
is that the learner can do a self-assessment in a short period
of time and that it is easy to score and interpret. I and my students
have used CAPSOL with students of all ages from third grade to
graduate school. I have also used it in inservice teacher-training
programs with great success. I strongly recommend that CAPSOL
be part of the learning style inventory mix for use by schools
and colleges."
John R. Grassi, Ph.D.
Professor and Alumni College Vice President
Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA
"The Capsol inventory
is an important tool in my work as a Gifted Intervention Specialist
in four elementary schools. It has proven to be instrumental in
identifying how students learn best. I use the insights the Capsol
reveals to increase the students' awareness of how they take in
information. Being cognizant of their learning styles has helped
my students increase their problem solving skills, expand their
academic growth, and take more responsibility for their learning."
Adrienne Artz,
Gifted Intervention Specialist
I have used the CAPSOL extensively in my classes
in teaching students in the allied health profession of athletic
training education and the information provided helps me to curtail
my teaching methods to the students preferred learning methods.
I highly recommend this instrument because it examines the basic
learning styles of auditory, kinesthetic, visual, individual,
group, sequential, global, written, or oral learning styles.
Dr. Jeffrey A. Bonacci, Program Director
Athletic Training Education
University of Arkansas
"I have been using CAPSOL in a series
of workshops where seasoned employees learn to mentor new employees.
Everyone loves CAPSOL because it is fairly quick and easy to understand.
I combine it with education around the use of multiple intelligences."
Jane Greer
Business Learning Trainer
Reliability
Reliability of the Cap-Sol was
determined by administering the student version to 480 fifth and
sixth grade students in a test/retest situation. A Pearson's r
was calculated for each of the 45 items to determine the correlation
between the responses to the items from the first to second administration
of the Cap-Sol. A mean correlation coefficient was also calculated
to estimate test-retest reliability of the instrument. Correlation
coefficients for the 45 items ranged from 0.52 to 0.93. The mean
correlation coefficient for the items was 0.74.
